10 second restuarant review

Malibu, Surry Hills

Going here is not for the faint hearted- the food and service is outrageous.

The husband and wife team who run this joint, are not the most welcoming folks in the world. I think the lady would eat my head if I queried their eratic pricing, which changes every time I go there. I’ve been going in at least once a week for nearly a year  and it is as if they have never seen me before in their life, every time.

yes?” they ask when I get there, without looking up. That’s it. No, “how are you”.

I order my standard; poached and then crumbed chicken snitz, Mayo [which is delightful] with wild rocket and the ultimate tomatoes- baked and then grilled. The sandwiches are huge, Euro style beasts. The portions of their doorstep sandwiches could last you two sittings, easily.

nine fifty” they say, they plonk a 50c back into my hand and pass me a tin foiled parcel, and I am off. No unnecessary niceness, no thank you and certainly no please, and I don’t care- the sandwiches are that frikin’ good, they could punch me in the face before they serve me, and I would still go back.

My Chicken Snitz

The 10 second restaurant review concept originally brought to you from London, by my good friend TC via http://thisannoyedme.tumblr.com/. This is merely, a view from another hemisphere.

Wright Bench

I love this sort of stuff.

Making the everyday better, and especially making the everyday better in urban spaces.I wrote a while back about Swings in the Sky and seats with a view, and the below bench is super smart.

Bike Bench

This is a bike rack which doubles as a bench. This is the kind of innovation ubran planners need to be taking notice of, in my uninformed opinion, maximising the use of urban furniture to improve and benefit communities.

I posted this on my Instagram the other day.

This is a street in Surry Hills, near to my office in Sydney, where they have installed urban gardens built in sculptures. I am yet to pick any Rosemary from it, but it’s a great idea, and looks cool, to boot.

The Wright Bench was designed by Eugene Duclos, a student at Appalachian State University for the Perennial Wood Appalachian State Design Studio contest

I just saw this from a blog, and love these panarama photos, imagine trying to take these without a digital camera!

In 1994 I went to the World Cup Finals in San Francisco, here’s my attempts at taking a panoramic shot of Stanford Stadium, the game in question is Brazil vs Columbia, one of 4 games i was fortunate enough to attend.

Soccer Datatainment

This is an email I pinged around the office today, and thought it would work as a quick and easy blog post. Boya- here you go:

Americans are the master of sports stats, and this is pretty cool from  Adidas and the MLS. They are going to try and bring a more interactive approach to watching soccer [football] in the States. Adidas are going to chip all the players in the MLS All Star v. Chelsea game this July with micoach tags [think Nike+], and provide real time performance data to coaches and fans watching at home: http://www.wired.com/playbook/2012/04/adidas-micoach-mls-all-star/

Interactive Soccer

I don’t like the word ‘datatainment’ coined by wired [in fact it makes me want to vom in my mouth], but it’s a nice example of how watching TV is going to change and how people will be using their multiple screens. MLSsoccer.com is currently developing several consumer digital products to incorporate the micoach data and bring fans closer the game…

A few years back I remember talking to my mates about inventing an iPhone/iPad app that using augmented reality would provide performance data on players so you could point at individual player during the match whilst you’re in the stadium to get the stats which you have when watching at home on the TV. Maybe that might happen through this too?
